Amazing food great service explosions of taste thanks to the team.
Went on Sunday for the food fair which was amazing. Staff were welcoming and there was plenty to do. Also got the pleasure of meeting Hugh which made my day. Definitely going again next year hopefully with my little brothers. So thank for a great day
Spent the day here on a wet late April day on the inaugural wood fire cooking course with Gill. What a fantastic day, I learned a few nuggets but most importantly I have been truly inspired and given some really great ideas for cooking outdoors and making it a real social event. The weather was never an issue as we had a yurt, an open sided barn to shelter under and the fires to keep us warm. The quality of the ingredients was second to none.Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall even joined us for just over an hour!If you get the chance to do a course here grab it and have a whale of a time!
When I arrived at Riverside Cottage I went to HQ as I arrived early. Some of the staff were not so welcoming. Waited for the tractor with the trailer attached to take us to where we all needed to be. There where refreshments waiting, it was nice to meet new people with the same interests and a lot in common. The reason I have given the entire rating 1-star due to bad Customer Service. When we all met the teacher she was okay at first very informative, pleasant but then she realised she was booked for somewhere else and forgot to cancel and told the entire class. I have a gluten, nut allergy as it was a Gluten Free course she had to give me a new recipe. Which was understandable, however there was no need to make me feel uncomfortable and make the class feel it was there fault you couldnt organise your days. It was ridiculous. Plus it was my birthday present.Dont waste your money. I personally feel its over priced and she doesnt seem to want to give you information that will actually help you. She just recommends buying one of her books. Even though you spent a lot of money just to be there. However this was my experience. If you do decide to go, hope yours was better than mine.
We have been meaning to come down for years and glad we finally made it. River cottage is a truly wonderful creation. We came for the festival and have enjoyed wonderful weather, music and incredible food in a scenic location. Cookery master classes were available at a small additional charge which included sushi, pizza making, curry workshop, wood fired cookery and ice cream a making to name a few. They had cookery demos and talks from many different guest speakers including Hugh on one of the live stages and finished off the evening nicely with star gazing set up by a number of different local astronomers. There is a shop selling all of the different River Cottage merchandise such as cookery books, DVDs and t-shirts. The restaurant has a lovely selection of seasonal food on offer but is very popular so a good idea to book a table. Can't recommended it enough. if you are thinking about coming you should and won't be disappointed.
